Interim HealthCare Inc., the nation’s leading franchise network of home care, senior care, home health, hospice and healthcare staffing services, today announced Tammy Schmitz, RN case manager with Interim HealthCare of Lima, Ohio as its 2023 Nurse of the Year. Interim HealthCare of Lima is part of Interim HealthCare RNC, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio and the largest franchise network within the Interim HealthCare family.
“We are thrilled to recognize Tammy for her tireless work and perseverance,” said Penny Kill, Director of Home Care Services at Interim HealthCare of Lima, Ohio. “Tammy truly represents what it means to be a nurse – selfless, caring and willing to go above and beyond in service of her patients. I couldn’t think of a more deserving person to receive this honor.”
Tammy has been with Interim HealthCare of Lima, Ohio since 2019, quickly becoming a dependable figure among both her colleagues and patients. She is highly organized and a great communicator, scheduling her patients the night before so they know when she will arrive and being the first one on the phone to let them know if anything changes. Tammy consistently gives her all when caring for patients and helps to coach family members on different aspects of care to ensure they’re comfortable when she isn’t on shift.
Additionally, Tammy has a wealth of medical knowledge, making her a great resource for her fellow nurses. She has been known to personally contact the Board of Nursing for clarification on nursing law to ensure compliance with acceptable standards. Tammy will also take it upon herself to research a procedure or diagnosis she is less familiar with in order to better serve patients.
“I’m truly honored to be named Interim HealthCare’s 2023 Nurse of the Year,” said Tammy Schmitz. “My role as a nurse is incredibly important to me, and I’m glad to be part of a company where I can have a positive impact on my patients and their families. Nurses are an integral part of the community and this recognition holds even more meaning after the past few challenging years.”
As part of National Nurses Week (May 6-12), Interim HealthCare annually honors a nurse in its organization who exemplifies the true heart of nursing and the company’s core values of integrity, compassion, customer focus, innovation and responsibility.
